11.
Who we coach for.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Relief valve for key employees.

In a highly-competitive sales and corporate environment, pressure often turns into stress which turns into frustration, communication problems, fear and health problems. Key employees working with a coach weekly avoid this expensive track, given they are getting it off their chest with a confidential coach, before it becomes a problem that affects their judgment, reduces their effectiveness or damages their inter- and intra-company working relationships. --Coaching is an affordable insurance policy that pays off weekly.

2. The company's Stars and Fast-Track Employees get the special attention they need.

It's probably fair to say that the top 20% of a company's employees produce as much as the other 80%. Problem is, these top producers (whether in sales, management, creative, leadership) never get enough support, even if they are getting twice the resources than the average employee receives. Star Theory states that "If every Star isn't producing 500% more than the average employee in a similar function, the Star is not getting the support they need." Stars can and will produce much more than management realizes, if they get the structure, rewards, tools and opportunities they need. Note: Most Stars don't realize how much more they can produce; it's up to the company to educate them. However, most managers are threatened by Stars and are hesitant to fully support them, for fear of looking bad, reducing motivation of other team members, losing control, etc. -- The Coach is the perfect motivational, developmental and supportive partner for every Company Star.

3. The company's vision is expanded and employee buy-in is greatly increased.

Microsoft's Bill Gates' vision of "A PC on every desktop and in every home, all running Microsoft software" works on many levels. It keeps Bill focused, gives the management team an exciting goal to shoot for, inspires confidence in the sales force (given the scope of the mission), reassures customers that their decision to buy a Microsoft program was a wise, long-term choice, and disorients the competition, given the audacity of the vision. Few companies have a vision statement that is as real, simple, compelling and motivating as Microsoft's. (Why? Because most companies have confused their mission statement with a vision statement and/or the vision is watered down by committee.) -- The Coach helps a company craft a vision statement that reorients the company and every employee, often within months.

4. Increased productivity, quickly.

Most coaches have coached entrepreneurs and know how to help corporate clients/managers/executives get virtually any job done faster, at less cost and with fewer problems. Coaches expect performance from all clients, especially those working in the corporate environment and share with their clients the techniques, approaches, strategies, style and language that gets the job done in half the time. -- Coaches train clients in doubling their productivity.

5. Everyone becomes a coach.

As the organizational structure flattens new communication skills and styles are needed by all -- enter coaching skills. In fact, when the company (from the top down, at first) initiates a Corporate Coaching Program, employees at all levels now have more in common, given everyone is empowered to become a coach to each other. The term "Coaching Skills" is a euphemism for "improved communication, relating, productivity and management skills" which covers just about everyone in the organization. When properly introduced and implemented, employees naturally buy-in because they can see, feel and experience that this approach is not just the flavor of the month from management or the HR department. -- Coaches train everyone how to coach each other effectively, at all levels.

6. Increases the company's ability to adapt, change, be flexible and respond quickly.

Delays in the recognition, integration and full response to emerging trends, new production techniques, changing customer needs, better management systems, improved technology and faster ways to reach potential customers are becoming increasingly expensive and even fatal. (Apple Computer is one example of how these types of delays have put a company's viability at risk.) -- Coaches increase the company's ability to better see, feel and more quickly respond.

7. Elimination of in-house roadblocks, potholes, dead-ends and blocks to reaching objectives, at every level.

Every roadblock reduces profit. A coach works with departments, units, divisions, managers and executives to identify and eliminate every single block to results. This process takes 1-2 years and the corporation is left more naturally productive, just as a ship's hull that is scraped clean of barnacles moves more quickly and easily through the water, saving money, time and stress of the engine. -- Coaches help the client/corporation to eliminate all profit-destroyers.

8. The company becomes more entrepreneurial.

The competitive advantage of most start-ups and small companies is their ability to recognize, seize upon and maximize new opportunities in record time. How? Because the typical entrepreneur in a self-starter, risk-taker, independent-thinker, results-oriented, resourceful magician who is well motivated and well rewarded (and not just financially). It is possible to instill this entrepreneurial spirit and qualities in corporate employees, but it usually requires an outside coach to show the employee how to think and act in an entrepreneurial manner. How to work with others in the organization who are not similarly inclined and how to still respect and work within the necessary corporate structure and systems. -- Corporate Coaches empower individuals in a company to take initiative.

9. The company attracts the best talent.

Employee-recruitment efforts are enhanced and leveraged when the corporation is known as a place where special skills are respected, where key employees have the freedom (and funding) to continuously innovate, where employees like working for the company, where everyone speaks freely and directly up and down the ladder, where the company is consistently profitable and where the management of the company invests in the best tools and training to bring out everyone's best. The result? A highly effective corporate culture that attracts and retains the best talent. Either the corporation has this culture or they do not. In either case, a coach can work with key players to upgrade the culture. -- Coaches help the company become more attractive.

10. Reduction of corporate politics.

The Coach works with the client to strengthen their intra-networking skills and on reducing any tensions or personal conflicts between the client and anyone within the organization so that the operative term is spirited cooperation, not destructive competition. When key employees are being coached in this area they upgrade their relating style to one of teamwork, mutual respect, willing support and virtually no pettiness. It's noticeable and attractive and can become the new culture of the division or company within 12 months. This type of change, however, takes much longer without coaching, if ever. -- Coaches help key employees to significantly improve their communication style.
